Detailed Review...

I wanted to wait a couple of years to write a detailed review of this board. I can tell you that over a 2 and a half year period, I’ve gone on countless paddles in all kinds of terrain. This board is great so I wanted to share the highlights.
First, I have found it to be very stable in a variety of conditions. I mainly paddle in the ocean, intercoastal, or brackish tributaries/rivers/streams. Because it’s so wide, it’s a tiny bit more challenging to turn than many boards but not anything to be concerned about. Super winding, narrow creeks are where it was a bit challenging, that’s all. Also, it’s not made for surfing (obviously) so if you’re paddling back to a shore-break it can be a bit treacherous and tough to keep it from rolling, especially in heavy surf.
The threaded holes (SeaMounts as Pau Hanna calls them) everywhere are amazing. So convenient to attach just about anything you want. I go out fishing sometimes and literally have 2 coolers mounted, rod holders, etc and it’s great. (Total side note on the coolers…I have 2 Igloo coolers with a flat top that I can sit on as well. Works AMAZING. If I don’t feel like standing, or if I’m in a hard head-wind I can sit down and with an adjustable carbon paddle that you can shorten and paddle just as effectively sitting. That’s been a huge benefit! I’ve seen a lot of the Arctic or Yeti coolers used and I would probably recommend against that. The reason is those coolers are so small inside you can hardly pack anything at all. Yes, it keeps your stuff cold for 4 days, but unless you plan to be paddling for 4 days I don’t think it’s necessary. You’re better off with a standard cooler that holds more) The coolers are simply secured via a strap that gets attached to the square SeaMount D rings. Regarding attaching coolers and other gear, I used to use bungee cords as that seemed the most obvious choice. HOWEVER if you roll your board, all of that gear will likely fall off if bungee’d. Use adjustable straps found at any camping/hardware store.
The threaded holes are also great for attaching just about anything. I lock my waterproof phone bag on to one. I use a blue-tooth speaker that mounts to one. I have a small anchor I keep in my dry bag and I’ll throw that out, then tie off to any of the clips. From there my wife will tie off her board to mine and we just hang out in the ocean a few miles offshore. It’s great.
I also use the cargo net for storage. I use mine in the front and use 2 stainless clips for the two front rings and then clip them to the D Rings. The other end I actually do use a bungee cord for but it’s pretty tight. I tried using the straps for the cargo net but it was just too cumbersome. Be sure to rinse the cargo net off after every use, especially if you’re in saltwater!
Another issue to consider is when you’re transporting the board. If you’re like me and transport it on top of a car carrier and keep the D Mounts in, if those aren’t super tight, they will rattle out and fall out during the drive. Get some plumbers tape to wrap around the screws prior to putting them in. That way they won’t rattle out. Replacing the screws is as easy as a trip to Home Depot, however replacing the D ring means buying a new set from Pau Hanna.
I’m trying to think of reasons why someone wouldn’t like this board and the only things that would come to mind are that it’s not meant for speed. It’s a bit heavier and wider than most so it feels (and is) slower. It’s a Land Rover, not a Ferrari.
I think the best thing I like about the board though is the customer service from Pau Hana. I’ve reached out to them about some questions and they have always been super friendly and very accommodating. It’s not something I get from many companies these days.

Great for fishing and camping

Took this board on a camping trip on mountain lakes in the Adirondacks. Hauled gear securely to our site, then it was a great fishing platform for trolling and casting. The anchor points give this board a lot of versatility and potential. Plus the tough hull protection means less worry when navigating around the rocks and trees along the shoreline. I love this board!

Take this thing anywhere

I took the board on a quick spin in moderately windy Pacific Northwest conditions. The stability and maneuverability was heaven. Its pad is cushy and will feel great under bare feet and warm sun. This is a masterpiece board; with colors that sit so well on the water. Got it from REI, the guys were super helpful

AMAZING

I had the opportunity to paddle this board on the Maine Island Quest! After loading about 100 lbs of gear onto this board I couldn't believe the stability and performance. I was able to battle crosswinds and chop to hop from Island to Island. I had everything I needed on this board from camping gear, to cooking supplies and all my water for the weekend. The Cargo net straps were perfect incase I tipped I was confident everything would stay on! I cannot wait till this board is on the market 5 STARS all around!

Can't wait to try this board out

I think this is the board I have been waiting for. Perfect for all the Iowa rivers. And I'm a huge Shackleton fan so it was meant to be.
