Pau Hana Surf Supply Dedicates Manufacturing Resources in THE Fight Against COVID-19

Todd Caranto, the owner of Pau Hana Surf Supply, and his team of outdoor enthusiasts have been working together on a project to produce respirator face masks in support of the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Without getting too deep into the politics around protective masks, our journey started when we tried to source extra N95 respirator masks to send to our front line health care workers. We arrived at the conclusion that there are just simply not enough manufacturers of PPE that can produce the equipment needed for such a scale of pandemic. As a product design and manufacturing company, we have the skills and resources to understand the design requirements and manufacturing resources needed to start developing and producing these kinds of products.

In these uncertain times we believe it is our responsibility to step up and do all we can to join the fight against COVID-19.

Not only will we be producing respirators ourselves, but we want to provide all the essential information you need to know in order to make your own respirators and masks.

Our intent is not to replace the medical grade N95 masks but to provide the public with a safe alternative so we can focus on getting the N95 masks that are available to our front line workers. It is evident that wearing respirators can help reduce the spread of the virus by exponential proportions, and by reducing the spread we can save lives.

The Center for Disease Control now recommends that all Americans wear a face mask or face covering while out in public, as even with no symptoms it is still possible to have the virus. By providing good quality respirators to the public we can better protect ourselves, our fellow citizens and our loved ones.

We are in this together.
